Vascular study - Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), which is essential in cellular energy production, is important to energy-demanding cells like heart cells. It is an antioxidant that is helpful in patients with coronary heart disease and heart failure by inhibiting the progression of atherosclerosis through the inhibition of LDL-oxidation and by decreasing proinflammatory cytokines and blood viscosity. With the promising evidence of its benefits, and notable absence of clinically significant side effects, CoQ10 can be considered an important adjunct to standard therapies in cardiovascular diseases.
 
Vascular Study - Mixed tocopherols (alpha- and gamma-tocopherol)
Though clinical studies showed that pure alpha-tocopherol has shown only a slight or no effect in counteracting the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, research showed that natural mixed tocopherols, including alpha- and gamma-tocopherol, could significantly inhibit platelet aggregation, and lipid peroxidation to inhibit cardiovascular disease .
 
Vascular study - Mulberry leaf extract
Mulberry leaf extract could improve the effects of a diet high in fat and cholesterol on hypertension, hyperlipidemia and vascular dysfunction through the inhibition of cell adhesion molecules expression and induction of vascular relaxation. As one of the polyphenol-rich foods, it was reported to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease by reducing the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells, and the proliferation is an important step in the development of atherosclerosis.
 
Vascular Study - Hibiscus extract
Clinical trials demonstrated antihypertensive and hypolipidemic properties. Supplementation of hibiscus extract showed significant improvements in glucose, total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol levels and reduction in both systolic and diastolic pressures in patients having metabolic syndrome and hypertension respectively.
 
Vascular study - Sage extract
Sage extract improved the lipid profile by lowering serum levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL and VLDL while increasing serum HDL level. The extract has antioxidant , inhibitory effects on pancreatic lipase and lipid absorption, and lipid peroxidation inhibitory effects. It is effective and safe to improve hyperlipidemia.
 
Vascular study - Natto extract
Natto extract contains nattokinase. Oral administration of natto extract enhances fibrinolytic activity, counteracting blood clot formation. Dietary supplementation suppressed intimal thickening and reduced both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
